Scott (lead vocals, bass) and Joe (lead guitar, backing vox) met in 2007 when they were both members of the house band for ‘TMi’, the Saturday morning CBBC show. They performed live on the show every Saturday. After this they went on to form ‘Where’s Spike?’ and got through to the final 10 on XFM’s Rock School in 2007.
After ‘Where’s Spike?’, January 2008 saw Scott and Joe team up with Jack (rhythm guitar, backing vox) and later Sam (drums) at Realistic Rock to form The Theory of 6 Degrees.
The band made it to the finals of the XFM Rock School ‘08 competition at the Roadhouse in Manchester, and broadcast live on XFM radio with host Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets). Judge Peter Hook (New Order) declares the band to have “more talent than most of the students at my [further education music] college”. Clint later invited The Theory of 6 Degrees to record a live session and interviewed them for his show.
In December 2008, The Theory Of 6 Degrees featured on BBC Radio 1′s ‘Switch’ as the house band. They were interviewed live on Radio 1 and their song, ‘Your Mum’s in the Mosh Pit’ was played on air. The band’s jingle was also played on the show.
In March 2009, the band finished second out of 10,000 entrants in the national Live & Unsigned competition, making such an impact that judge Malcolm McLaren declared them as his favourite band.
In December 2009 The Theory Of 6 Degrees finished off the year by winning the national title of Yamaha Download Band for a Grand.
They have just completed a one year clothing sponsorship deal with JOE BLOGGS, and they are currently endorsed by Cort Guitars, Stagg and Peavey and have played venues and festivals including The Water Rats, Guilfest, The Troubador, The Roadhouse and Jongleurs.
