24.06.08 Realistic Rock's first course for Adults storms The Vibe!

A great night was enjoyed by all at The Vibe Pub, where Adults from the Remastered course played Live versions of classic Rock songs such as Alright Now by Free and Pretty Vacant by the Sex Pistols! Theory of 6 Degrees make final 20 bands in Bon Jovi competition. Well done to our youngest band, The Theory of 6 degrees. They made it to the final 20 bands (out of 350!) in a competition run by The London Paper to support Bon Jovi at Twickenham in front of 60, 000 people.

4.06.08 The Theory of Six Degrees make Amphishock final!

Well done to newest band to start working with the Realistic Rock team, "The
Theory of Six Degrees" who have stormed their way into the final of this years
Mole Valley based battle of the bands competition, "Amphishock." The boys will
be performing at the final on the 21st June at Dorking Halls! Check the guys

26.05.08 Bands Play Live! in Epsom High Street as part of Derby Festival

In celebration of the Epsom Derby, Realistic Rock has teamed up with Epsom
Plyahouse to promote Live bands performing sets in Epsom Market Place!
Taking part will be current Realistic Rock bands, Black and White, The Theory
of Six Degrees, Roxxi, The Banned from Paradise City, The Bare Faced Cheek and
The Jimmy Robinson Experience!

Black and White - Winners of XFM Rockschool 2007!

Congratulations to Black and White who are most recent winners of XFM
Rockschool competition. The band stormed to victory with an amazing cover
version of "Give it away" by the Chilis and performed the track live in front
of 5000 people at Brixton Academy alongside Bloc Party, Kate Nash and
Supergrass at XFM's Winter Wonderland Concert! The bands Drummer "Guy" is also
the Brother of Lead Axeman and Vocalist from the Flaming Monkeys who also won
the competition in 2005!

Congratulations to Black and White who have made the top 10 bands in XFM’s prestigious Rock School competition. The bands cover of “give it away” by the chilis has made a huge impact at XFM! You can now vote for the band to go through to the top 3 bands who will battle it out for a chance to play at XFM’s winter wonderland at Brixton Academy! 24.09.07 New Courses for the new term

As a new school term begins, we are now taking bookings for 10 week Live Performance courses starting on Wed 10th and Sat 13th October. The popular Beginners to Band members is a subsidised course for complete novices and shows youngsters how to play basic skills on guitar, bass and drums. Students also get the chance to forms bands and get that all important first Live! Experience.

Live Performance Workshops also return on Saturday Mornings. As one of Realistic Rock’s most successful courses students can study songs and techniques from their favourite bands and play them in newly formed groups! This course gives the opportunity to young musicians who want to further develop their live skills and meet potential new band members!

Vodafone Live Music Awards 2007.

Congratulations to the Flaming Monkeys who picked up the award for the “Kerrang Best Live Unsigned Act” at the Vodafone Live Music Awards on September 19th! And a big Thank you! To everyone who voted! The monkeys were nominated for the Vodafone music award by Kerrang magazine and have also had extensive air play on Kerrang Radio!

21.05.07 – ITV.com Weblives

The Flaming Monkeys and Richard & Robin Henderson from Realistic Rock are the
subject of a brand new documentary "Web Lives" for ITV.com which goes out
weekly starting Tuesday 22nd May @ 1pm.

The documentary follows The Flaming Monkeys through rehearsals, gigs and song
writing and shows how bands are using the internet to generate success.

24.03.07 – Suttons Best Band competition 2007

Realistic Rock was well represented again in the prestigious Suttons Best Band competition this year.

Congratulations go to Xenon who not only won the Under 18’s category but also won the overall competition even beating the over 18’s bands! Xenon’s prizes include an 8 hour recording session in a top London studio and a return gig at Rockstock Carshalton billed as Suttons Best Band!

Congratulations also to Black and White who won a Special Prize from Rococo Music to record a live demo. The judges of Suttons Best Band were amazed with the Bands “tight backline” and front man Matt’s “total air of confidence.”

24.03.07 – Toy Valentine joins the Realistic Rock Academy tutors

24.03.07 – New Course – B.A.D (Band Academy and Demo Recording) & B.A.D for the under 13s

This new course has been designed for the growing number of musicians who want to join a band and aspire to the level of musicianship and performance demonstrated by Realistic Rock bands such us Xenon (above).

The B.A.D Course will put students into bands depending on the their preferred style of music and start off with some Live Performance Song Studies (e.g. Chilis, M.C.R. etc.) as an icebreaker.

Once bands are comfortable performing together new tutor, Toy Valentine will help each band work on their Stage Performance to ensure that the bands are as exciting on stage as their music.

When each band has acquired confidence in their music and performance they will write their own song with the help of the Tutors and be involved in Recording a live demo of their own song with our Sound Engineer, Ferg Priddle, so they can take home a CD as a record of their accomplishment.

Christmas Showcase was a Sell Out!
Happy New Year! And a big thank you to everyone who took part in the Christmas Showcase 2006. Thank you also to everyone who supported and bought tickets for this Sell Out! event.

This term Beginners to Band Members will be running as usual from the Phoenix Club, Epsom and is open to first time musicians aged between 13 - 16. The Showcase for this event is Free! and is also at the Phoenix Club on Wed 28th March. Book Now! Places are limited.

Realistic Rock will be launching brand new Saturday Courses in April 2007, so watch this space!

27.11.06 – XFM Rock school finalists

Realistic Rock has been well represented at this years XFM Rock school competition where bands battle it out for £1000 worth of musical instruments for their school and get the once in a lifetime opportunity to play at XFM's Winter Wonderland concert at Brixton Academy. Bands with members who have previously been on Realistic Rock courses include: Xenon, Staletone, Blackspray and Half an Hour Later.

Congratulations to Black Spray who have made it to the final 5 bands. Callum and Lewis from Blackspray are currently on Realistic Rocks Beginners to Band Members Course! Lets see if Epsom and Ewell based bands can win the competition 2 years in a row, Good Luck!

8.11.06 – Xenon to enter XFM Rock school!

After The Flaming Monkeys amazing victory in XFM Rock school last year, Realistic Rock are supporting Xenon's Powerful interpretation of The Final Countdown by Europe. Up for Grabs is £1000 worth of musical equipment for their school and a once in a lifetime chance to open XFM's Winter Wonderland at Brixton Academy this December. Voting is from the 24th - 26th November and you can vote for Xenon at www.xfm.co.uk/rockschool/xenon.

Calling all singers, guitarists, bassists and drummers. Realistic Rock and Hinchley Wood School are hosting a special weekend of Rock! Workshops are open to you and other members of your family, which include the opportunity to learn new skills with highly experienced professional tutors and record your own CD in our studio.

Realistic Rock is looking to acquire its very own premises in Epsom. At this centre Realistic Rock will offer Private tuition in Guitar, Bass, Drums and Vocals, Live Performance Courses and Personal Study areas for young musicians. There will also be a long awaited rehearsal facility for upcoming bands and a social area for young people to Chill.

23.09.06 – Beginners to Band Members Returns (10 week course)!

Beginners to Band Members returns to the Realistic Rock Academy this Autumn. The course is now self funded by Realistic Rock after funds from the Surrey Youth Service were re directed into other activities. Director Robin Henderson said, “This course has been an important part of the community for the last twelve months. It is important that young people have the opportunity to try new skills in music and have a positive attitude to their recreational time. We have decided to fund the course ourselves to give the local youngsters that important opportunity.”
Beginners to Band Members is held at the Phoenix Club, Depot Road Epsom from 6pm - 8pm starting on Wed 4th Oct. It is open to first time musicians of 13 - 16 years old and is Free of charge.
